Whether merry or maudlin, gin soaked Christmas songs are always my favorite Christmas songs. I don’t think it gets much better than Shane MacGowan spitting through broken teeth at Kristy MacColl about being a “old slut on junk, lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed” but John MacCualy’s comparatively cheery Christmas In A Chinese Restaurant and Robert Earl Keene’s cheeky Merry Christmas From The Family both hold up amazingly well.
