The whispery pop songs from bird-boned, alien pixie Canadian Grimes sound like Bjork on better drugs and this short documentary, where she tap dances around a McGill academic building and talks about space, somehow doesn’t feel precocious or exasperating. I’m no softie but I think it has something to do with how endearing her jerkily off-beat dance moves are in the video for Vanessa.
